DAFTA introduced a block making project at some of our clubs and service centers in the semi-rural areas such as Molweni, Demat and Zwelibolomvu. The aim of the project is to provide training and skills development for male members.

DAFTA received funding from the eThekwini Municipality Grant-in-Aid allocation. The association provided block machines, sand stone and cement to begin the project. Blocks produced are SABS approved and purchased by the local community for construction of homes and other buildings within the area. This project allows for income generation and is therefore sustainable. This presents a great opportunity in disadvantaged communities where the need for education and the level of poverty is still high.
